CLIMATE
Tasmania is the coolest wine producing region in Australia. With the prevailing weather coming from the north-west, the East Coast is in a rain shadow, resulting in more sunshine and drier conditions than the rest of the island, (which is great for both wine and relaxing on the beach.) This cool Mediterranean climate means we depend on significant rainfall events every two years or so to fill our dams.
PRODUCE
In the fabulous natural food basket which is Tasmania, the East Coast is most famous for it’s seafood: oysters, mussels, scallops, crab, cray (lobster) and the famed abalone. Land-based agriculture includes walnuts, berries, olives, (of course) and livestock grazing.
OUR VINEYARD
Planted on predominantly doleritic soils, varieties now include Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
